I'm finally getting to the colour work, and LOVING it! I tried a variety of styles and after deliberation, a more vibrant, rich, cool (it is winter after all!) palette emerged! So, the benchmark is set.
It must be underwater love .. can you see the story? I'm pretty hooked on picture puzzles at the moment, and I'm just besotted with this challenge. The objective is never just to present one singular meaning of any environment, but rather to let stories evolve, patterns take shape and the 'aah! and ooh I never saw that the first time!' to evolve.
Finally! A meetup with the local talent - BIG group... it's always tough because of the timing, and work constraints, but we made it. Met up, chatted, coffeed, laughed, sushi'd and of course, made artwork. This time it was for the CBCA Newsletter, hosted by Peter Taylor. We haven't had a meet-up since the exhibition last year. And the whole day did have me inspired and ready to prepare for a few more exhibitions this year!
Some fantastic talent met up that day - I would have loved more time to chat, but I was an hour and a bit late to begin with!
Thanks for the photos (below!) to the lovely members who did remember artbooks and cameras!
Apologies to all the fantastic artists I didn't grab their details off, this was definitely a day that is in need of a repeat!
The day was a wonderful opportunity to meet and greet.... more of these are needed please
Ski - Snow
Ski/Snow... I ran out of large paper, so I'm back with the smaller sizes. so I thought I'd try putting them together into one image... sort of works....
Camping weekend this weekend (usually more blustery, cyclonic and loads of noisy camping neighbours, but still fun!).
Combining themes - circus and small town
I got myself a little behind on this one, so I spent a night or two catching up - two themes per A3 illustration. For this theme, the concept was circus and small town... I fancied a small town by the beach. Put a second one in there for good measure. Playing with general circus animal shapes....
Leave your phone at home. Bring the sunshine, and a good book. Build a sandcastle and take a walk on the beach.
Johnny and Fran couldn't wait! Today was the first day of the holidays! What better way to celebrate than having at least 10 whirls on the Lightning Bolt.
Roland loved the museum, especially the dinosaur section. "Oh how marvelous to have been a dinosaur...' he mused. Little did he know, the days of the dinosaur being locked in a museum, as nothing but a set of old bones, were numbered...
