Trucking through October & inktober... it was really my intention to get into colour this time around, but again, like last trimester, time is short and things take time... so greyscale, black and white.
What a great job done… with a few key helpers, a five day window between school terms, and a fair bit of elbow grease, it's done and dusted. The school asked me to paint a drab 10 x 3 meter wall and there were key considerations: hot walls, limited shade, basic budget…
After visiting a few paint stores, I gathered up paint from the excellent Taubmans for a good prices - exterior paint not needing priming, although I did jet wash and prime the wall before the painting started… best idea.
So, from 9:00 - 6:00pm over five days, it got 'done'… Conclusion: a. I have great respect for muralists and b. it was fantastic to work at such large scale.
Inktober week 2
There are many challenges, jobs and things I should be doing, but I'm pretty much engrossed in Inktober… each day, I'm carrying my visual diary with me, drawing during tea breaks, watching a film or two, or seriously just talking on the phone. I am listening, really, I'm just drawing at the same time!
My second #inktober… who would have thought! It was a year ago, this month, that my skills really started to morph and shape into 'something'. And it all started with #inktober. Before then, I'd worked mainly with pencil, avoiding strong, bold line because I hadn't really found a way to work with it. Then after one whole month of persevering with ink, I am ready for my next challenge. Improve inking in grey scale and in colour. The past week has been hectic, so it's been literally drawing during meetings, whilst watching tv… keeping me very occupied. After this month, I'm going to have a whole new set of pics for the portfolio!
