Caravan and Ice-cream Parlour
I combined two words here caravan and ice-cream parlour... drive through... I've never seen one of these, but they might be fun all the same... like doing drive through coffee, potentially messier!
I have taken on the 2 doodle challenges - doodle day is my daily word challenge, and for this one the scene was 'ice-cream parlour', and for 52-weeks it was caravan, so I decided to combine the two and put a creative sentence to it too:
It was a very hot day. So hot in fact, that there was a caravan of cars backed up from the city, waiting for the drive through ice cream parlour to open'...
It's a question of commitment
Now, at the same time, a few forum peers posted on another site about the wonderful opportunity of writing - the 12 x 12 Picture Book challenge sounded just awesome, but I have to be realistic... my time is scarce, so writing a book a month for the next 12 months and illustrating it, just wouldn't be possible. I feel I've sort of shot myself in the foot here - wonderful networking and learning opportunities to be had, but I have to be realistic. So again, a wonderfully talented friend recommended another challenge - the KIDLIT 1 PB in 6 months book challenge. Now, THIS I could do. Seriously, what a challenge, and what an opportunity.
So, I'm committed. I've joined, done my intros and now it's down to story and planning.... I'll be posting about this process as I go
Commitment, is an interesting one. It snowballs. We become accustomed to starting things - especially with the boom of social media... but finish? Nah... So, this is it. In the first 6 months I've committed myself to enough, I'm going to try to post with proper titles so I can refer to it in 6 months time and know I've achieved what I set out to achieve.
What is this all for? SCBWI conference in July... I WILL be there.. my PB challenge is to provide a dummy I can take down to Sydney...
