There certainly is a 'nack' to black and white illustration... I am updating my portfolio with a black and white section, and I started by checking out my values in Photoshop, just to see how everything looks in grayscale. I was pretty surprised to see how much recedes and what colours project when you least expect it!
On top of the b&w experimenting, I really wanted to try increasing the texture of my paper in digitally, which I really like - it's much 'older' by the looks of things, but I enjoy seeing texture in work!
