After using the trial version for my 30 days, I have to say, I'm hooked. Corel painter version 12 has incredible wet brushes and with me exploring my digital styles, I can't think of any other way I'd rather go.
I have been using Photoshop for 8-9 years, and I'll continue to use it. There's a cross over between my use of Photoshop for it's photographic and effects qualities, but I think in terms of where Corel has taken painter, I'm going to try to move over to Painter for loose, more textured works. Of course, originally I was going to stay 100% hand painting, and I fought for this, but what I've started finding, is there is no way I can complete the hand painted works in the deadlines I've been given for work... this software is bridging that gap between what looks too 'digital' and what is not. There isn't a great deal of Painter tutorials on the web, so I'm sort of grabbing what I can, and experimenting much of the way, so watch this space...
