The 'aha' moment!
I have the four characters! All closely related! similar styles and more about how they work together as 'earth, sea, air and such'. Because I've been preparing for college, and trying to keep the momentum going with the two forums, I've playing around a bit with creatures in watercolor (two birds one stone).
The problem in this, I've realized, was two-fold. The first, Inspiration: not that I'm not inspired by characters and creatures - in fact I LOVE working with both - I need to give myself more context. I need a story and I wasn't coming up with any... and two, Technique: I need to experiment a bit with a variation of technique... back in October, I worked for the month in black ink and now, I'm loving it... So what about watercolour?
Yesterday, I decided was 'art day'. I took my son off to the library and we grabbed a whole set of children's books each - for inspiration. I looked at the way illustrators are approaching watercolour and digital techniques, as well as the way watercolour was being used to target different age brackets of children. So, I'm going to work more on these four for the next two weeks and have some finished pieces by the end of the month.
And, I just didn't feel like getting near the computer other than for research, it was just too hot.
