So, the journey to moving into children's illustration takes a while, Everything does. Practice, perseverance and patience. I've started frequenting facebook groups with a mighty talent bunch of illustrators and now I'm looking at working on age specific portfolios and building up a few styles to cater for these age groups.
I found sites such as: http://www.firstsecondbooks.com/ which has a great deal of information on the process of developing graphic novels for children, and publishing around that genre.
Juan Martinez Neal looks at how to work on a physical and digital portfolio - most of what I've done so far isn't appropriate so back to the drawing board (albeit in a good kind of way!).
And techniques are developing - from pen and ink, to pencil, to coloured pencil, washes and gouache!!! FUN times ahead,
