Windsor & Newton Vs Koi
I really love my travelling watercolour kit - I bought it six years ago in the UK - a real Windsor & Newton palette with faux leather case - I love it, always have. On my recent travels I did run out of two colours… so off to the local art shop in Canggu… unfortunately they didn't have the squares of paint, but they did have the complete travel boxes - but not W&N. I found a brand that pretty much cost the same price as the squares so I decided to buy them and have a go.
Koi by Sakura - the brand - came in a box of 12 colours (including white), with the usual reds, blues, greens and yellows. It also included a natty little nylon water brush (I love those brushes for everyday use) and sponge. Amazingly the price lead me to believe the colours would be 'lesser'. They weren't. They are vibrant, more concentrated (i.e. they went further) and pretty much compare to their more expensive counter-part, W&N….
