I'm not one for new year's resolutions but...
Well, starting a post with 'I'm not one for new year's resolutions but... ' almost sounds like I have a fair few resolutions written down, up my sleeve, or documented in my brand spanking new diary for 2015. We can read evidence of 'throwbacks' from 2014, written as a reminders of what I didn't finish last year, or the year before that, for that matter.
Yes, I do have outstanding 'tasks' and yes, some of them did indeed get completed at the 11th hour of 2014, but others are just sitting there, staring at me... asking to be put out of their misery. And I have to ponder... why are some things easier to put off than others - for me at least. Considering I hate loose ends and absolutely condemn a 'to do list' that never seems to end, why are some jobs (even paid ones) just sitting there, uncrossed, un-celebrated as 'done'?
When I looked at these loose ends, I had to own up to one or two being a case of 'not enough time' or that of procrastination. While others where just glaringly 'not the right projects'. From design, to illustration, I've taken on some 'doozies' during the past two years. Most of them, will not make it into my portfolio, and many of them would not have great stories of collaboration and communication I'd want to share - these being values I am particularly interested in. So, this coming year is going to be about this:
Saying no to the wrong projects and actively pursuing my dream 'jobs'.
No lists, or resolutions I won't keep....
No, in fact it's going to be an awesome year, of fantastic personal and professional projects...
